20 x $6 = $120 of grinding, so the $200 trip minimum applies — worth adding any other stumps while the grinder is already there.
20 x $11 = $220 — ground below grade, chips hauled away, spot left level and ready for seed.
45 total inches x $6 = $270 for all three on one visit. Priced one visit at a time, those same stumps would cost $600 in trip minimums.
What Can Move the Price Up or Down?
The per-inch rate covers the typical job: a reachable stump in a yard with normal access. A few things can adjust a quote, and all of them are visible in your photos — which is why photo quotes are firm. Tight access (narrow gates, steep slopes, stumps between structures), badly rotted or debris-filled stumps, and surface roots that need chasing can add to a job. Backfilling with topsoil and hauling chips away are available as add-ons; leaving the chips as free mulch costs nothing.
The Fine Print, In Plain English
Calculator results are estimates; your firm number comes from your photos and it does not change on site. Every visit carries the $200 minimum. Multi-stump and bulk pricing is where the model shines — total the inches, one trip fee. Every stump is ground 6-8 inches below grade — deep enough to backfill, seed grass, or lay sod right over the spot. Planting a new tree where the old one stood needs a deeper excavation than standard grinding; the practical fix is planting a few feet over, and we will say so honestly when it applies.
